February 19, 1945 It is cloudy again, so Hitler has plastered us with buzz bombs all day. Some hit the lower end of town.

February 25 and 27, 1945

The 1st and 9th armies crossed the Roer River a few days ago and are making progress. The 104th Division was first to cross.

Yesterday a rocket hit a candy factory here, killing 800 girls. General Lee was here again and he borrowed my jeep. Yanks are only 11 miles from Cologne now.

  • 1.    Never both be angry at the same times.
  • 2.    Never yell at each other unless the house is on fire.
  • 3.    Neglect the whole world rather than each other.
  • 4.    Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled.

An older woman once me once that no relationship is all sunshine. But two people can share the umbrella and survive the storm together.”
